General Terms and Conditions
More specific terms and conditions for doing business with me:
- The payment is to be transferred as soon as possible after the commission is completed. You'll receive a reminder after 7 days of the invoice date. After 30 days you get your last reminder.
- To pay in instalments, you'll be charged an extra 5 euro administration fee per instalment.
- I offer a first consultation for free up to 2 hours. After that, all additional time or consecutive appointments will be charged at an hourly rate.
- Next to the free 2 hour consultation, feel free ask me for advice via Whatsapp or video call for design inspiration, Adobe tips or printing settings. If this takes more time than a reasonable 15 minutes per commission in total, it will be charged at an hourly rate.
- When you're more than 30 minutes late for an appointment, I will charge the total amount of waited time at an hourly rate. Appointments can be canceled or changed up to one hour beforehand, otherwise I will charge the planned time at an hourly rate.
- When the client delivers materials with (printing) mistakes, wants to make adjustments or create more drafts than initially agreed upon at the quotation, all the extra time and materials will be charged at an hourly rate.
- Making a dummy is not a necessity but comes in very handy, since it helps to ensure a near-perfect end result because I can experience the unexpected mistakes beforehand. Since making a dummy also teaches me quite a lot, I charge 80% of my hourly rate for making a dummy.
Deciding to make a dummy will be in close consultation by the two of us.
- Making mistakes is a natural part of making things by hand: even though we strive for perfection, there's inevitably going to be mistakes, whether big or small.
I will always try to fix the mistakes, but there could be a scenario in which they're unsolvable:
-
In case I made mistakes that could have been prevented by making a dummy (on which I insisted), the extra charge is for the customer.
-
In case I made small mistakes that needed little fixing, I will charge the extra hours to customer, since this is the risk of asking a craftsman versus a machine.
-
I case I made a big mistake that needed a lot of redoing, the extra hours spend will be on me, the bookbinder.
- Sometimes I let you borrow books for inspiration. In case you return them to me broken I charge reparation costs (hour rate x 2) or the price of a new copy.
